Important message regarding PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff

Hello Clausen House Community and Families,

This week, we are facing a challenging set of circumstances.  PG&E is saying that due to gusty winds and dry conditions in the forecast, they will be taking proactive measures by shutting down power.  We may experience a Public Safety Power Shut-Off* (PSPS) in parts of Alameda County from early Wednesday morning (10/9/19) into Thursday midday (10/10/19). Outage could be as long as 5 days because of fire danger.

To find out if you will be impacted, click on this link and enter the “service address” (screen shot below):

We want to be transparent to ensure that everyone is informed and prepared as much as possible.  As always, the health and safety of our clients is paramount.

Clausen House Adult Education and other Community Based Programs such as our Independent/Supported Living and Supported Employment Services will remain open, unless we receive new alerts and or information that will impact our ability to serve some clients in the community all day or the severity of the shut off or other emergencies/disaster generate a closure. Our Residential Homes are geared up and prepared to shelter in place during such emergencies as other programs and operations under our umbrella.

Alert:  East Bay Paratransit has recommended that scheduled rides be cancelled due to the nature of the shut down on Wednesday 10/9/19 and resume on Thursday 10/10/19.  There will be other continual alerts that will inform us about the possibility of this transportation not being  available. For questions please contact (510) 287- 5000.

Please note that Clausen House is not responsible for transportation.  We ask that you take on the responsibility of contacting and ensuring transportation for your family member if you are notified of a program closure and in subsequent days if PG&E does end up shutting down power.
