Clausen House’s residential program delivers coeducational housing in our three beautiful group residences located in the Adams Point neighborhood near Lake Merritt. Our staff provides a warm, friendly environment. We emphasize independent living and self-sufficiency, responsible decision-making, health, safety and community integration. All the adults we serve are fully engaged and either work or volunteer in the community or community college or attend day programs. Our clients enjoy recreational activities such as bowling, movies, yoga, sporting events and dances. For more information please contact Jaynette Underhill, Executive Director.
Supported Employment assists our clients to seek and secure full or part-time paid employment. We assess a client’s work readiness, create a job-placement strategy, develop employment opportunities, train and provide post-placement support for greater job success. While some clients need the structure of a group placement and a permanent job coach, others work in relatively unsupervised positions. Safeway, Andronico’s, CVS, Walgreens, Kaiser Permanente, Banana’s Inc. and KPFA all report a high satisfaction level with our client’s job performance at locations throughout Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, El Cerrito and Emeryville. Our clients have a solid job retention average of five plus years and some have been with the same employer for more than 20 years. Employers report that supported employment employees are among their most reliable, motivated and dependable employees. For more information please contact Veronica Santana, Director of Supported Employment.
