For more than two decades, Clausen House clients have demonstrated the extraordinary value of inclusive employment through their dedication, reliability, and commitment at Safeway. Their success stories are a powerful reminder that when individuals are given meaningful opportunities, they can thrive, build lasting careers, and make significant contributions to their workplaces and communities.
One of the most remarkable of these journeys began 25 years ago when D.G. started working at Safeway. On August 22, D.G. and the other members of our Safeway enclave completed their final day of work, marking the end of an incredible chapter filled with growth, achievement, and meaningful connections. This transition was met with heartfelt emotions, gratitude, and reflection from our clients, Safeway employees, and Clausen House staff alike. There were tears, smiles, and countless memories shared as everyone honored the dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments of these valued employees.
Clausen House is proud to recognize the remarkable service and contributions of our clients who built successful and meaningful careers at Safeway:
- D.G. – 25 years of dedicated service
- J.W. – 22 years of dedicated service
- R.R. – Nearly 7 years of commitment and contribution
- S.Q. – Approaching 3 years of successful employment

Together, these individuals represent more than 57 years of combined service with Safeway. Their accomplishments highlight the positive impact of inclusive workplaces and demonstrate the talents, determination, and value that individuals with disabilities bring to their employers every day.
Clausen House’s supported employment partners consistently share that supported employees are among their most valued team members. They are recognized for their strong work ethic, reliability, low absenteeism rates, motivation, and long-term commitment. The longevity of our clients’ employment serves as a testament not only to their contributions but also to the importance of creating workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

While the conclusion of the Safeway enclave marks the end of a meaningful chapter, it also signals the beginning of a new one filled with possibilities. The Supported Employment Team is actively exploring new employment opportunities and meaningful community engagement options for all four clients, helping them continue to find purpose, connection, and fulfillment.
As this transition unfolds, Clausen House remains committed to providing individualized support, guidance, and advocacy to ensure that each client has access to opportunities that align with their strengths, interests, and goals. We remain dedicated to helping them stay connected to their community, maintain a sense of purpose, and continue thriving in the next stage of their journey.
While change can be challenging, we are confident that with the continued support of Clausen House, new opportunities will emerge, allowing each client to build on their successes and continue leading fulfilling and meaningful lives.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Safeway for being a valued employment partner and for fostering a workplace where our clients have been welcomed, respected, and empowered to succeed. Together, we celebrate not only their years of service, but also the lives enriched through inclusion, dignity, opportunity, and community.
