Chandra Jackson is an Oakland native who graduated from Oakland Technical Highschool and later attended school at Cal State Hayward which is now known as College of the East Bay. Post College she took a banking course and started a 20+ year banking career there.
Chandra joined Clausen house 11 years ago in October of 2011 as an intern at the day program (Adult Education), as well as in the DSP program at the College of Alameda. Once she completed 200 hours of training, she graduated at the top of her class receiving a certificate of completion. The Director of Programs at the time (who is now the Executive Director Jaynette Underhill) gave her the opportunity to be an Adult Education Teacher, she worked in this position for 4 years before becoming the Program Coordinator of Adult Education, and she has been flourishing in this position for two years now. As of December 21st she became promoted to Manager of Adult Education and is so excited for the continuation of her career here in her new position.
When asked about her experience and feelings about her job;
“I wanted to be a part of Clausen House because of our clients, from day ONE of me entering the program, I have felt nothing but love from our clients and it’s a genuinely fulfilling experience that I’ve never felt at any other job before. My favorite part about it is the relationships I have made with both our clients but also the team as a whole. I love Fun Fridays in Adult Ed. Being in the community with the clients, eating lunch, having fun, and just seeing our clients in their element make coming to work so easy.”
We are so very thankful for Chandra and all of our Staff at Adult Ed and are proud to have such caring and hard-working individuals working on our team to help our clients lead fulfilling and independent lives!
